.should read this. Even if a young girl is just starting to menstruate, there is a lot here that she can learn about her body so that she doesn't freak out when it starts doing things that might seem weird to her. I have a relative who doesn't know that her body is supposed to change THROUGHOUT her cycle, and so she always thinks there is something wrong. :)Even if it isn't used for family planning (prevention or tyring to conceive), the information is valuable.
This book is definitely the pregnancy bible. It is a must have for anyone trying to conceive, to avoid pregnancy, or just a woman who atually wants to know what is going on inside her body.
and then get yourself a copy, it'll be dog-eared in no time. And probably fairly soon, when I'm ready to have kids, I'll use her charts to help me get pregnant.
When I first read this book, I got so angry that this information had been withheld from me. This is the book every girl at the age of 14 should get in her health class - I can't say how many women I've met who didn't know (like me, until the age of 22) that there are certain times of the month when it's fairly difficult for a woman to get pregnant.
I still use her charts - and largely thanks to that, no pregnancies yet. Just ridiculous.
However, thanks to Toni Weschler, we have an excellent excellent guide. I can't say enough about this book - check it out from your library and you'll see.
;)
The biggest thing is that you learn about your body and your cycle so the whole month wont be such an emotional guessing game as to what is going on. We would try and then give up before I even ovulated. I know for sure that we have been missing ovulation. If you are going nuts TTC read it for sure, you will definately benefit from the info. I had 2 spikes in temp this cycle but what I hadn't ready anywhere else is that the temp spikes and stays higher until the end of the cycle. I think all woman should read this book.
was reccomending even after I wasn't getting pregnant. That was also what my Dr. A few months of the ovulation predictors didn't do much good either. I just started charting temps at the begginning of this cycle and just got the book last night. We have been TTC for 5 months. For example I read a few places that the spike in temp meant you ovulated the day before. Well sorta true.
Also, all the other factors you should consider when charting your temp were spelled out, not just don't get out of bed first. In addition you learn the the other signs of fertility and by compiling your own body info you are reafirming your findings so its not so much just guessing. So we may never have gotten it. We were going by the standard 14 days (or mid cycle if it wasn't a 28 day cycle). And the best part is that even if there is a problem, once you learn this info and chart it, you have proof for the dr.
What I do know is that I don't ovulate on day 14 or mid cycle thats for sure. You can get bits and pieces of some of the info found in the book from various sources, but not until this book did it all come together. and it gives you both an idea as to what could be causing the problem. You'll probably even sleep better at night.
I can see how some people would benefit from an additional course, especially if they lack some predictability in their cycle. Great book that actually gave me the feeling of "taking charge of my fertility". The science behind it was easy to understand and thorough. I definitely recommend this book to anybody and everybody. In saying that, not everything is perfect: (1) some people's fertility condition is such that they do need medical advise/intervention, so this book may not apply to them, and (2) from my personal belief system, it is maybe a little too liberal in not emphasising sufficiently (to my taste) the responsability people take when having sex. But, those comments are really minor and I found it easy to skip over them with only mild dissapointment, and thoroughly did enjoy learning more about the human body and the amazing system.
